Definitely the most incredible moment of the conference so far was the chance to finally meet Sidibay, the young man whom my studnets supported while he was living in Sierra Leone.
Sidibay gave a workshop to during the youth summit, telling about his life in Sierra Leone; losing his parents, being a child soldier, being liberated and not finding acceptance in his community after the civil unrest in Sierra Leone.
For several years, the students at W. H. Day Elementary School supported him, sent him to school and communicated with him on the internet. It was a great experience for all of them, and one we all cherished.
The have seen him and spoken to him on Adobe connect, but never had the chace to meet him
That moment finally happened this week, and it was all we could imagine.
That's one of the reasons that I became a teacher, to see kids learn and become citizens of no only their country, but the world.
