Dreams Come True
About this event: iEARN Youth Summit & Virtual Conference 2010

It's so hard to believe that the week is over. Looking at the video done by Vivian, Francisco and Nigel, the moments passed by and my heart is full. The dream we had 3 years ago in egypt came true.......bringing together educators and students from about 40 countries to come and learn with each other.
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank the TIG team who made the Youth Summit the best ever, being able to connect the summit to our friends worldwide exemplified essentially what we are trying to do in iEAN and TIG...forming a global community of people who want to make a difference.
I am so proud of all the youth and I feel we have a new extended family. I am so happy that my students were able to participate and develop new friendships and relationships with those they only read about.
It was a dream, something that happened as a result of many of us dreaming together, working together but mostly, having a common vision.
As John Lennon was so often quoted this week:
A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is a reality.
Thanks for making our dream into a reality
Mali

Meeting Sidibay
About this event: iEARN Youth Summit & Virtual Conference 2010

Definitely the most incredible moment of the conference so far was the chance to finally meet Sidibay, the young man whom my studnets supported while he was living in Sierra Leone.
Sidibay gave a workshop to during the youth summit, telling about his life in Sierra Leone; losing his parents, being a child soldier, being liberated and not finding acceptance in his community after the civil unrest in Sierra Leone.
For several years, the students at W. H. Day Elementary School supported him, sent him to school and communicated with him on the internet. It was a great experience for all of them, and one we all cherished.
The have seen him and spoken to him on Adobe connect, but never had the chace to meet him
That moment finally happened this week, and it was all we could imagine.
That's one of the reasons that I became a teacher, to see kids learn and become citizens of no only their country, but the world.

We are WITH the World
About this event: iEARN Youth Summit & Virtual Conference 2010

After 3 years of planning, we are finally here, all together at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.
Yesterday was a dream come true......seeing all of our old and new friends arrive after they traveld for days was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. We are truly blessed to be here, learning and working together.
Some highlights:
O Canada with Jocelyn and the Dreamteam, the Country Call and the keynote session with Stephen Heppell.
WE are here to Catch the Dream and I can see it happening all around, from the smiles on the youth faces, seeing groups of people eating and working together, dancing, singifg and celebrating.
Thanks to all who helped make it happen.

walk to school wednesday

The walk to school Wednesday program has been going fairly well and by fairly I mean pretty good. For the first week we had 82 cars drive in thats not very good,so we need more people to walk to school thats why our class made announcment lines to encourage students to walk to school. The next week I dont think you would want to know that unfortunatleywe had a relly cold snap. The third week we had 90 cars that was better than the second week. The exaust from the cars pollutes the air thats why we try to encourage others to walk to school.rnrnrn From Nathaniel

Our Footprints Calculator
About this category: Environment

Hi all
The students in Ms. Stephenson's class had a very interesting session using the calculator that showed us our carbon footpriont. We learned what our footprint was now, made some goals for the followiung few months that will hopefully reduce our footprint. We also compared our footprint to other countries, which was really interesting.
We have attached some pictures for you to see.
What did your class learn about your footprint??????

iEARN Conference
About this event: TIGed @ iEARN World Conference 2006
Related to country: Netherlands
About this category: Education

We have had an incredible time at the conference. 5 teachers from W. H. Day School in Ontario came to take part in as as many activities as we can.
All of the sessions have been incredible, but meeting everyone here has been the best part. We have loved meeting people from all over the world.
